Cleaning of bearings: When disassembling bearings for maintenance, the first step is to record the appearance of the bearings and confirm the residual amount of lubricant. Subsequently, sample the lubricant used for inspection and clean the bearings with cleaning agents or kerosene. During the cleaning process, it is important to place the removed bearings in a container and place a metal mesh on top to ensure that the bearings do not come into direct contact with the dirt in the container.
During rough cleaning, avoid rotating the bearing with dirt to prevent damage to the rolling surface of the bearing. After rough cleaning to remove grease and adhesives, it is necessary to switch to fine cleaning, which involves carefully cleaning the bearings while rotating in the cleaning oil. Meanwhile, ensure that the cleaning oil remains clean.
Maintenance and judgment of bearings: After cleaning, the bearings need to be thoroughly inspected. This includes observing the status of the raceway surface, rolling surface, and mating surface, evaluating the wear of the cage, and determining whether the bearing clearance has increased or the dimensional accuracy has decreased. For non separable small ball bearings, the inner ring can be supported horizontally with one hand, and the outer ring can be rotated to confirm its smoothness. For separable bearings, such as tapered roller bearings, it is necessary to separately inspect the raceway surfaces of the rolling elements and outer rings. Due to the inability to manually rotate large bearings, it is necessary to carefully inspect the appearance of rolling elements, raceway surfaces, retainers, and retaining surfaces. During the inspection process, caution should be exercised based on the importance of the bearings.
